“Mary Peltola is a typical do nothing politician. Dan Sullivan is the polar opposite.”
ANCHORAGE, AK — Today, Put Alaska First released a new ad, “Captain Bob,” highlighting Senator Dan Sullivan’s (R-Alaska) record of delivering for Alaska’s fisheries, and the sharp contrast with Mary Peltola, who told a fisherman asking for help on bycatch, “I’m just one person. What can I do?”

The ad also draws a sharp contrast with Mary Peltola’s record. Bob Candopoulos, a longtime Seward charter captain, recalls asking then Congresswoman Peltola to take action on bycatch while she served in Congress, only to hear, “I’m just one person. What can I do?” While Peltola made excuses, Senator Sullivan listened to Alaska’s fishermen, took action, and delivered results. The ad also highlights Senator Sullivan’s record of fighting for Alaska’s fisheries by taking action to reduce bycatch, strengthen Alaska’s salmon runs, combat unfair foreign seafood competition, and protect Alaska’s fishermen and fishing communities.
TRANSCRIPT:
I’ve been a sportfishing captain in Seward for almost 50 years.
When Mary Peltola was our congresswoman, I asked her to do something about bycatch.
Mary Peltola just shook her head. She replied, “I’m just one person. What can I do?”
Mary Peltola is a typical do nothing politician.
Dan Sullivan is the polar opposite.
He listens, leads, and delivers results.
No one has done more than Dan to protect Alaska fisheries.
The list is long.
He passed historic legislation to clean up our oceans and strengthen our salmon runs.
He banned the importation of Russian and Chinese troll caught fish and supported guys like me against frivolous lawsuits by out of state trawlers.
Dan is leading again with the most comprehensive bycatch legislation ever.
He’ll get that done, too.
One person can make all the difference if it’s the right person.
The right person for Alaska is Dan Sullivan.
