Alaska Native Leaders Endorse Senator Dan Sullivan’s Re-Election

ANCHORAGE, AK –  Today, an initial group of respected Alaska Native leaders announced their endorsement of U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) for re-election in 2026.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the continued trust and support of these respected Alaskan leaders, who care deeply about Alaska’s future,” said Senator Dan Sullivan. “Working together, we’ve made real progress and positioned our state to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities before us. I look forward to continuing our work together and building an even stronger future for our state.”

About the Endorsers:
Andrew Guy is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Calista Corporation, which represents over 39,000 shareholders primarily of Yup’ik descent. He is a member of both the Napaskiak Village Tribe and Village Corporation.

Lyman Hoffman is an Alaska State Senator serving District S, which covers large portions of Western Alaska (including Bethel), the Aleutians, Bristol Bay, Kuskokwim, Yukon, Pribolof Islands, and Alaska Peninsula. He attended high school in Bethel and college at the University of Alaska where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Sheri Buretta is the Chairman of the Board of Chugach Corporation, a role she has held since 1998. In addition, she serves on the board for the Alaska Federation of Natives, Copper Mountain Foundation, Russian Orthodox Sacred Sites in Alaska (ROSSIA), Silver Salmon Creek Leadership Institute, The Tatitlek Corporation, and former Chair for the University of Alaska Board of Regents and director on  Native American contractor’s association. Sheri resides in Eagle River and her family is from the Village of Tatitlek.

Tara Sweeney is the Vice President of External Affairs at ConocoPhillips Alaska. Tara was the first Alaska Native to serve as Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior (2018-2021). Prior to her role at the Department of the Interior, Tara spent nearly two decades at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation serving in external and government affairs.
John Aġnaaqłuk Lincoln is a former tribal council member for his tribe, the Native Village of Kotzebue, and former chairman of the board for the Maniilaq Association, the regional tribal organization for Northwest Alaska. John also served as an Alaska state representative from 2018 to 2021.
Kristina Woolston is the Chief Executive Officer of Old Harbor Native Corporation. Kristina is an Alaska Native shareholder of Bristol Bay Native Corporation and Paug-Vik, Ltd, and a Tribal member of Naknek Native Village Council. Kristina was born and raised in Naknek, where she commercial fished each summer with her family and took part in traditional hunting and gathering for subsistence purposes.
Carl Marrs is the former Chief Executive Officer of Old Harbor Native Corporation, a position he held from 2010 to 2024. Carl was born and raised in Seldovia, Alaska and is an Alutiiq from the South Central Region of Alaska. He grew up as a commercial fisherman and attended school in Kodiak.
Curtis McQueen is the Executive Director of the Alaska Native Village Corporation Association (ANVCA), which promotes the success of 176 village corporations across the state. Curtis is a Sealaska shareholder, and was Chief Executive Officer from 2005-2019 for Eklutna Inc., the village corporation for Anchorage. Curtis is a Tlingit Indian from Southeast Alaska. He is from the Eagle-Killer Whale Clan and is a member of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
Charles W. Totemoff is the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Chenega Corporation, a position he has held continuously since 1988. Mr. Totemoff has been a leader in Alaska Native social and economic policy throughout his career.
Skoey Vergen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Aleut Corporation, which represents over 4,000 shareholders primarily of Unangax̂ (Aleut) descent. Skoey is an original Aleut shareholder, a shareholder of the Akutan and Shumagin village corporations, and a member of the Qagan Tayagungin Tribe of Sand Point.
Rex Rock Sr. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ASRC and on Arctic Slope Regional Corporation’s board of directors, holding the director seat for Point Hope. Rex is a tribal citizen of the Native Village of Point Hope and the Iñupiat Community of the Arctic Slope as well as a shareholder of ASRC and Tikigaq Corporation, the Alaska Native village corporation for Point Hope. Crawford Patkotak is the Chairman of Arctic Slope Regional Corporation’s board of directors, holding the director seat for Utqiaġvik, and is the executive vice president of stakeholder engagement for ASRC. Crawford is a tribal citizen of the Native Village of Barrow and the Iñupiat Community of the Arctic Slope as well as a shareholder of ASRC and the Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation, the Alaska Native village corporation for Utqiaġvik. Aaron Schutt is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Doyon Limited. Schutt has worked at Doyon since 2006. Prior to being named President and Chief Executive Officer, Schutt served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2008 to 2011. He is Koyukon Athabascan and is an enrolled member of the Native Village of Tanana. He was born in Anchorage and raised in Tok.
Bill Thomas served in the Alaska House of Representatives representing the 5th District in Southeast Alaska from 2005 to 2013. He is Chairman of his village’s Native corporation, Klukwan, Inc. Thomas is an Army veteran who served in Vietnam in 1968 and has been a commercial fisherman for 56 years. He is an honorary lifetime member of the American Legion and council member of the Chilkoot Indian Associations.
John Moller is a Council Member on the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC). John is a life-long Alaskan and Alaska Native originally from Unalaska, with deep roots in subsistence and commercial fishing. John has over four decades of commercial fishing experience and currently owns and operates a commercial fishing vessel in Southeast Alaska. John has also managed a fish processing plant in Adak and was the general manager of a Western Alaska Community Development Quota Organization where he oversaw fish plants and vessels. John served six years on the Advisory Panel to the NPFMC. In addition to commercial fishing, John owns a consulting firm advising clients on a broad array of topics.Over the coming days, Senator Dan Sullivan’s re-election campaign looks forward to announcing the endorsements of additional Alaskan leaders and organizations.
