Anchorage, Alaska — Today, Senator Dan Sullivan’s campaign praised Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom for having the courage to take decisive action to protect the integrity of Alaska’s elections, following her June 8 letter notifying the Petersburg-based Sham Candidate Dan Sullivan that his declaration of candidacy is under formal investigation.
“The State of Alaska is standing up for every Alaskan voter’s right to a fair and honest ballot,” said Senator Sullivan’s campaign spokesman, Nate Adams. “Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom’s letter makes clear that Alaska’s elections will not be a playground for deception. We commend her commitment to ensuring voters’ right to an honest, fair election is upheld and are hopeful that the ruse that is lifelong Democrat Sham Candidate Dan Sullivan’s phony candidacy will come to a swift end.”
In her letter, the Lieutenant Governor noted that she is responsible for administering the State’s election laws and that the Division of Elections must determine whether a declaration of candidacy was filed in good faith. She wrote that the State has received credible allegations that the sham candidate’s filing was made in coordination with another campaign and was intended to confuse voters by capitalizing on his shared first and last name with Senator Sullivan and his all-too-convenient newly selected party affiliation.
The Lieutenant Governor’s letter requests that the candidate respond under penalty of perjury to seven questions, including whether he had ever affiliated with the Republican Party before filing, whether he has had any interaction with other Senate campaigns or political operatives regarding his candidacy, and whether his campaign website and logo were designed to mimic Senator Sullivan’s.
The Lieutenant Governor has requested the candidate’s sworn affidavit by noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
