Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association Endorses Senator Sullivan for Reelection

ANCHORAGE, AK – Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) has received the endorsement of the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association (AKPFFA) for reelection to the U.S. Senate.

“Senator Sullivan has a record of supporting fire fighter issues,” said AKPFFA Southcentral Vice President Paul Miranda. “He has supported funding for Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER), permanent reauthorization of the 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund, increased recognition and treatment of PTSD for first responders, and funding for personal protection equipment (PPE) to help us combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The Alaska Professional Firefighters Association stands with Senator Sullivan for re-election to the US Senate.”

“Throughout his service to the state, Dan Sullivan has continued to support our brave first responders as they shield our families from harm,” said Alaskans for Dan Sullivan Campaign manager Matt Shuckerow. “He has worked with his colleagues to protect important grant funding that fire fighters need to train, purchase and maintain protective equipment, receive mental health treatment, and more. As a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, he holds a special place in his heart for men and women who voluntarily put their lives on the line to protect their communities.”

In addition, Senator Sullivan continues to work with his colleagues in the Senate to find new ways to improve the health and safety of first responders. He is an original supporter of the Protecting Firefighters from Adverse Substances Act, which directs federal agencies to develop ways to limit or prevent first responders’ exposure to dangerous “forever chemicals.”

The AKPFFA represents approximately 500 fire fighters across the state that, together, respond to an estimated 75% of all fire and EMS and 911 calls throughout Alaska.
